Such & Such: Patria-O-Muerte

Ross Fraser McLean’s photography series from his recent travels in Cuba opens tonight at Such & Such. There’s also an interview with Ross that gives valuable insight towards how and why the Dundonian set out to capture the 50th anniversary of the Cuban revolution; in a nation that currently shuffles an uneasy mix of Communism ‘n’ Capitalism to its dwellers. Oh, and there’s a latin themed after-party if you can decipher the whereabouts (David Lemm’s probably your best bet for divulging that information, the big Hemmingway-esque softy that he is).

Edinburgh’s contemporary art galleries

No disagreement from the go reborn camp over The Skinny Ed’s fine choices for inclusion in The Guardian’s 10 of the best contemporary art galleries in Edinburgh

Special nod to relative newcomers Superclub who have really embraced their Gayfield Sq location with all manner of audio and visual pleasures for their discerning followers.

go reborn X SWG3 = PARTY!

Great friend, colleague and musical maestro Q-Burns Abstract Message is touring Europe later this month. We’ve teamed up with Glasgow’s SWG3 posse to host a party at new space The Berkeley Suite. Here’s the flyer/poster I’ve done. Oh, and it’s my birthday.. ouch!

Contemporary Scottish Furniture Design 2011

Visited the Dovecot Studios on Saturday (1st of October 11) to check out their latest exhibition on contemporary furniture. You’re invited to interact so pulling, pushing and sitting on any of the pieces was encouraged. Some superb finishes and the attention to detail was top class. Particularly liked the shelving unit that had the drawer pulls on the right hand side – not good for a lefty but I’m sure they’d get used to it. Big ups to our mate Alasdair Campbell who made some chairs for Namon Gaston – seen below.

NLP: Microsession

Photo gallery by Delaina Haslam from the shower of words, art, film and more that was New Linear Perspective’s festival microsession at Embo cafe. #GR5‘s Stuart McMorris and Claudia Massie gave their response, after beefy reflection, to the remix project on the night.

go reborn at Circle Cafe

We’ve hung a few pieces from #GR5-RMX in the perfect, rustic surrounds of Edinburgh’s Circle Cafe. Also there’s a couple of posters from the series ZWART Creative Bureau produced for Noir! #9 at Summerhall.

Tea in the Woods

New works now on show from long term go reborn conspirator Genevieve Ryan at Eteaket in Edinburgh.

Claudia Massie at Flaubert

Claudia Massie is showing works at the recently relocated Flaubert Gallery on Edinburgh’s St Stephen St. The pieces pre-date our #GR5-RMX project but we’l still take some credit for the most appealing, looser approach her work has taken in some of them ;)

NLP Microsessions

go reborn’s Stuart McMorris will be explaining a little, or indeed a lot, about his artistic process during the #GR5-RMX project at New Linear Perspectives’ Microsession held at Leith Walk’s Embo on Saturday 13 August, 6pm onwards. Also expect spoken word, poetry and short films from a fine cast of creative meddlers.

Peacock Visual Arts / Edinburgh Art Festival

Cowboy shootouts, whisky flowing and aural sensory overload via the ambience wonders of Wounded Knee. Can only be Katri Walker’s opening at The Old Ambulance Depot for Peacock’s Edinburgh Art Festival 2011 show.

Exhibition runs from 6 – 28 August, daily (12:30 until bar close)
